The Pennine Stages Rally reached a thrilling climax in 2005 with both the overall and the Class C awards being closely contested until the final, 24th stage.
The weekend began with heavy showers which cleared by midday on Saturday, the rest of the event being run in the Pennine's usual sunny clime. Competitors were treated to a full complement of 24 stages, 4 of which included mileage never used before at Ty Croes.

On the final stage, Andy Barker/Rob Mort (Car 2 and pictured left) took 3 seconds and overall victory from Rob Dick/Barry Green (Car 1), the latter claiming the Class D award. Car 10, D Allmark/Chris Metcalfe were 2nd in Class, and Richard Banks/Phil Peak (Car 3) took 3rd in Class D.

Class C resulted in a tie between Car 6, Huw Jones/Dylan Jones and Car 7, Carwyn Ellis/Edgar Jones, with Ellis/Jones taking Class victory from their quicker time on a very wet SS1. Third in Class C were Mark Ellis/Chris Jones (Car 8.)

Class B was taken by Car 29, Mathew Orford/Gwennan Jones, who were also awarded Best Novice. Car 21, Gareth Edwards/Gavin Thompson came 2nd, and Car 26, Jane Edgington/Darren Davies 3rd in Class B.
Class A was won by Anthony Williams/Paul Griffiths in Car 13 ahead of Car 49 Simon Hunter/Paul Sykes and Car 39 Alan Howard/William Kelly.
In the Trophy Rally on Sunday victory was claimed by Neal Arden/Giles Corbett.
